The Victorian Government has renewed its commitment into two flagship healthy places initiatives – the Achievement Program and Vic Kids Eat Well – for the next 3 years.
Cancer Council Victoria welcomes this important investment in the promotion of health and wellbeing in places Victorians learn, play and work.
Cancer Council Victoria will continue to lead the centralised coordination of the Achievement Program and deliver Vic Kids Eat Well in partnership with National Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Advisory Service.
Cancer Council Victoria, CEO, Todd Harper AM, welcomed the Victorian Government commitment and looks forward to continuing to support the development of healthy environments.
“The Achievement Program and Vic Kids Eat Well are made possible by the state-wide collaborative partnerships between the Victorian Government and community organisations, and also via the crucial on-the-ground support from Victoria’s health promotion workforce,” he said.
Dimity Gannon, Head of Healthy Places at Cancer Council Victoria, expressed the importance of these initiatives for the health and wellbeing of local communities.
“The Achievement Program and Vic Kids Eat Well are valuable settings-based health and wellbeing initiatives that play a key part in Victoria's prevention and population health system.
“We acknowledge the collective contribution of organisations across the state and believe this partnership approach will continue to be a strength over the next 3 years as we create healthy places for Victorians,” she said.
Minister for Health, the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas, said: “We're making good health for Victorians a focus, through healthy eating, physical activity, active living and mental wellbeing, so we can all work together to deliver a healthier future.”
A significant benefit of this 3-year investment is that it allows partners across the state to deliver vital local health and wellbeing outcomes with support of the Achievement Program and Vic Kids Eat Well initiatives.
